The year is 2032: 13 years after the Great Edo earthquake. In it's wake everything has changed... even the buildings have shifted their weight under the power of industrial nanotech. Progress sprints ahead, on the very limits of control. Faction vies against faction, and all the while nipponese business, nipponese government, nipponese military, become one, the neoretsu. Antzen built urban-combat divisions keep the peace when the police cannot. INtech keeps the city strong and clean while the government philanders. The city's memory resonates with the aftershock of the quake, the boundaries are failing: The rising sun only throws light on the coming storm.

It is late August, and rainy season holds sway over rebuilt Tokyo. The skies are dark, the nights are warm, the Tokyo-wa ghettos stink with the heat, and downtown Ginza's neon shimmers in the haze. News-wire billboards scroll headlines on Alpha, headlines on Jasa, and the city grows restless as the nights draw in.

From the bay to Fuji, the future flickers in like electric light.
